EMDR -
Eye movement desensitisation & reprogramming
EMDR is a psychotherapy treatment that was originally designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories, but can be used to relieve the distress or negative beliefs associated with trauma, by reformulating and reducing the physiological arousal connected with an event. It is often successful in shifting the thought patterns linked to traumatic memories, often very quickly in 1 or 2 hours.
EMDR is carried out while you are fully awake and alert. Treatment can also be carried out without any discussion of the traumatic event.
EMDR can be suitable for:
• Painful or Negative memories
• Post Traumatic Stress disorder
• Severe anxiety and stress disorders
